For the second consecutive year, the cities of Quito and Lyon came together to produce the most important light art festival in South America. In 2016 approximately one and a half million people visited the Historic Center of Quito during the four nights of the festival. The Festival of Light allowed its visitors to approach and rediscover the cultural heritage of the city.
The international projection of Quito, World Cultural Heritage, is one of the reasons for being of the Festival of Light, which in its first edition left a high impact throughout the city. The second edition of the Festival of Light will be held from August 9 to 13 in “Summer of the Arts Quito 2017”.
The light art festival is co-produced with the French Alliance of Quito and the Mayor’s Office of Lyon, France. Ecuadorian creative designers will meet French experts on this topic, and this will create learning processes for participating artists and managers. The festival was presented during a press conference with the presence of the Ambassador of France, the Secretary of Culture of the Municipality and the Artistic Director of the Festival of Lights of Lyon.
Finally, the organization of the Festival of Light in conjunction with the French city of Lyon, the historical capital of France, is an achievement for the international projection of Quito as a cultural, economic, tourist and commercial capital worldwide.
