Guayaquil Hosts Two Cruises With U.S. Visitors

An unprecedented scenario was seen on Tuesday at the Maritime Port of Guayaquil. Two international cruises docked with only one hour apart and were located one after the other.

The impressive ships came from Peru. The Symphony, from Crystal cruises, arrived at 06:00, with 922 passengers.

The Ocean Princess, from Princess Cruises, buzzed at 07:00 with 672 tourists.

Somewhat stifled by the intense sun of the city, Symphony visitors toured Las Peñas neighborhood and the Simon Bolívar Cultural Center. There was another group that traveled to the parish El Morro and visited cocoa plantations in haciendas near the city.

The tourists of the Ocean Princess were in the Seminario Park, which main attraction are the iguanas, fish, turtles, among other species that live there, in a place settled in the downtown area of ​​the city.

The short walk included visits to the Historical Park, in La Puntilla, jurisdiction of the neighboring canton Samborondon.

And at noon, the visitors entertained themselves with typical dances of groups that cooperate with the Municipal Public Company of Tourism, presided by Gloria Gallardo.

The characters of Juan and Juanita Pueblo, recreated by Marcos Perlaza and Katherine Sanchez, joined to the dance the song Guayaquil is my destination, which came out of the drums, lyres and trumpets of the Metropolitan Police Band.

Valeria Guerrero, from the Promotion and Marketing Department of the Ministry of Tourism, said that the reception also involved personnel from the Foreign Trade portfolio, Ecuador Post Office, among other institutions.

So far this year, the city has received 7 cruises. In March, two more are expected.
