Guayaquil is hosting 8 Training Ships of the Latin American Navies from June 28 to July 2, which will display their sails along the Guayas River at the Malecon Simon Bolívar.
This event which takes place every four years is part of the “Velas Latinoamerica 2018”, a regatta that started on March 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where training ships from America and Europe sailed to visit different countries.
Our BAE Guayas, as ambassador of our country, participated in this regatta in 2010 on the first edition of “Guayaquil a Toda Vela 2010”, when the Malecon Simon Bolivar was also the scene of the ships parade, as well as the Latin American crew parade, who enjoyed the hospitality of our city.
The Training Ships arriving are:
- Argentina: ARA “La Libertad”
- Brazil: NVe “Cisne Branco”
- Chile: BE “Esmeralda”
- Colombia: ARC “Gloria”
- Ecuador: BAE “Guayas”
- México: BE “Cuauhtémoc”
- Peru: BAP “Unión”
